Nasarawa United have been boosted by the expected return of key defender Seun Sogbeso to their matchday squad ahead of their trip to Lagos to face MFM FC after illness ruled him out of action for five matchdays.

Sogbeso have not played for the Solid Miners since the Matchday 10 1-0 defeat to FC Ifeanyiubah in Nnewi.

The centre-back is back in full training after recovering from the unspecified illness and has been included in Kabiru Dogo’s squad for Thursday’s rescheduled fixture against MFM.

“I thank God that I’m fully back and fit to play. I was out due to illness for about five or six matches,” Sogbeso told

“I know my return will help the team and I’m very determined to put my best and make sure the team improves its position on the log.”

The former Kwara United defender, who has scored two goals from the spot this season sees Lagos State as a good hunting ground for his team.

“Lagos State is anybody’s ground. If you play well, you’ll get a result and most of our players are from Lagos.

“We know we will have full support and personally, I’m ready to put my best for us to emerge victorious. The worst we’re expecting is a draw,” he said.

Sogbeso also insists Nasarawa United players feel confident despite their underwhelming start to the season and are working hard to catch up with the top-three.

“We planned and prepared to have a good season, but it’s a pity where we currently find ourselves.

“But all hope is not lost. We’ve talked to ourselves and we’ll bounce back into the top-ten before the end of the mid-season and third before the end of the season,” Sogbeso said.

The Solid Miners are currently placed 14th in the standings with 19 points from 15 matches and are four points behind third-placed Akwa United.
