NPFL Roundup: Kano Pillars Go Top as Akwa Utd hold Enyimba in Aba

Kano Pillars 1-0 win against Sunshine Stars saw them climb to the top of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) table on a day Enyimba let slip a chance to regain top spot after a late equalizer from Akwa United.
Kano Pillars moved top of the log for the first time this season after edging Sunshine Stars 1-0 at the Amadu Bello Stadium. An early goal in the 8th minute from Nyima Nwangua saw off the Akure side as Pillars returned to winning ways.
In Aba, the record NPFL title winners, Enyimba missed their chance to return to the top of the table after conceding a stoppage time equalizer from David Philip of Akwa United. The match ended 1-1.
Enyimba’s skipper, Austin Oladapo had given the People’s Elephant the lead in the 54th minute after a nil all first half.
In Illorin, Kwara United moved down to third on the log after drawing 1-1 to Abia Warriors. Mustapha Jubreel gave Abia Warriors the lead in the 66th minute before Alao Dambani snatched the equalizer in the 5th minute of added time.
Rangers International slumped to fifth on the log after losing 2-1 to 10-man Wikki Tourists in Bauchi. The Tourists took the lead after Mohammed Guda scored from the penalty spot in the 40th minute but Rangers equalized through Israel Abia in the 60th minute.
Wikki Tourists played the second half a man down after Peter Ambrose was sent off in added time of the first half but they fought hard and grabbed the winner in the fifth minute of added time through Ibrahim Sale
Playing at home in Lafia, Nasarawa United made it two wins in a row after beating FC IfeanyiUbah 2-0 at the Lafia City Stadium. Nasarawa United’s goals were scored by Ikenna Offor in the 10th minute, and a brace from Hassan Adamu in the 58th and 86th minute respectively.
In Jos, it was a comprehensive 3-0 win for Plateau United over Jigawa Golden Stars at New Jos Stadium with goals from Oche Ochowechi, and a brace from Ibrahim Mustapha.
In Ozoro, Warri Wolves returned to winning ways after edging Rivers United 1-0 at the Delta State Polytechnic Stadium. Udoh Emmanuel scored the goal for the Seasiders.
Matchday 12 continues on Thursday with three matches. In Gombe, Adamawa United will take on Lobi Stars and in Katsina, Katsina United will take on MFM FC while in Owerri, Heartland will host Dakkada FC, a match that would be streamed live on the NPFL.tv app.
