The partnership between the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) and the Spanish LaLiga will soon yield great dividends in Nigerian football, according to Laliga football instructor, Luciano Santana Marcel.

Santana, who is one of the three instructors at the ongoing NPFL-LaLiga Coaching Course, opined that it will not be a surprise if Nigeria’s style of play in the future has strong similarities with that of the Spanish national team which has been successful over the years.

“Of course, I won’t be surprised if in the future, Nigeria, already with its unique football style, will be very successful in world football because of the knowledge we are sharing with these young coaches who in turn would impart such to young Nigerian footballers who will form the future of the national teams and clubs,” Santana told

The NPFL-Laliga Coaching Clinic for Youth Coaches kicked off in Abuja on Wednesday and will run till Sunday. The coaches have been undergoing practice sessions since Day 2 of the clinic.

The NPFL-LaLiga partnership was signed in 2016 and has since recorded a number of exchange projects between the two leagues, including a tour of Spain by an NPFL All-Star team, the opening of the LaLiga Nigeria office in Abuja, and the U-15 Promises tournament.
