Michael Ohanu says he is excited to have scored on his debut for El-Kanemi Warriors and hopes to give his best so that the Maiduguri-based club will finish the season on a high.

The forward who joined from Kwara United in the ongoing mid-season transfer window gave a five-star performance on Sunday afternoon in Maiduguri when El-Kanemi Warriors hosted hosted Nasarawa United in the final matchday of the NPFL first round.

Antonio Desousa had given the home team the lead in the eighth minute before Ohanu got the insurance goal in the 54th minute.

And Ohanu whose performance was seamless having just joined the El-Kanemi setup in less than two weeks explained that it has been easy settling in the city and hopes his good form will help lift the team further up the pile from their current 15th position.

“I trained with the club for more than a week, I have seen their tactics and I tried to adapt, which I did.

“My aim of coming here is to take the club out of the relegation zone. I promise I will give my best,” said Ohanu to

Ohanu should have given his team the lead in the seventh minute but he dragged his effort off target.

But a minute later Desousa benefited from a mix up in the box after a scramble and his low shot from close range gave his team the lead.

On 54 minutes, El-Kanemi scored the second and it was the new man Ohanu who volleyed home Sunday Anthony’s glorious.

Ohanu has now scored twice this season, the first being at Kwara United before he made the switch to El-Kanemi.
