Ocheme Edoh piles more relegation worries on Kwara United
Kwara United had hoped on picking a needed point on the road against Wikki Tourists in Jos last Sunday but that was dashed as the hosts brushed aside the resilient Afonja Warriors.
Victory for the hosts came in the first 15 minutes of the game when Ocheme Edoh converted Abdulkareem Suleiman cross after beating the offside trap to head into the far left of the keeper for the only goal of the match.
Kwara United efforts to salvage a point from the game turned out unsuccessful in spite of their dominance in the middle which saw them pin the hosts to their half for most of the encounter. Their undoing was wastefulness as they frittered away several chances having forced Wikki to concede more infringements and corner kicks and resorting to delay tactics.
The introduction of Mohammed Sani may have added a needed bite for the Afonja Warriors in their search for the equaliser but this also did not provide the result they wanted.
Segun Alebiosu’s drive in the 66th minute could have been the answer to the several questions from Kwara United but his effort only hit the upright as the ball bounced back into the field of play.
With the sustained raid on them in search of the equaliser, Wikki seemed to have lost steam while Kwara gained momentum as the game wound up. Wiki only resorted to delay tactics feigning injuries over and over until the match ended.
