Sunday Adetunji scored twice to help Abia Warriors see off Lobi Stars 4-2 on their home ground, the Aper Aku Stadium in Makurdi in a Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) game on Sunday.
The hosts took the lead in the 27th minute through Kingsley Eduwo's volley outside the box which hit the back of the net from the top angle of the post.
Abia Warriors took the game to Lobi with Adetunji, Anthony Okemmiri and Yakub Hammed heavily involved and their effort paid off in the 37th minute when Adetunji equalised with a chip over Lobi's goalkeeper Okiemute Odah off a pass by Hammed Yakub.
There was exchange of fireworks by both sides but poor marksmanship denied them the chance of taking the lead till the end of the first half.
Anthony Okemmiri was on song in the 61st minute of the game when he slotted home the second goal for Abia Warriors as the Lobi Stars defence could not check his move before he fired past Odah.
Abia Warriors with the lead, continued their dominance of the game and five minutes later, Adetunji was on hand with his header off a through pass from Okemmiri to register the third goal.
Adetunji who rose high to nod in the goal got himself injured as he fell on top of his left arm which resulted to his being rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Makurdi for further treatment.
The goal, turned the home fans to the side of Abia Warriors as they cheered every of move by the away team.
Chinenye Agoha sent the entire Abia Warriors into wild jubilation when he scored the fourth goal for his side in the third minute into added time as he capitalised on a defensive blunder by Lobi Stars to send the goalkeeper to the wrong side and placed the ball into an empty net.
Lobi reduced the tally in the sixth minute of the added time through Eduwo who beat the offside trap of Abia Warriors to score with a low drive inside the box.
